"What must I do to be saved?"
An illustrated explanation of God's way of salvation
First, we need to stop, and think about our condition before God.
We have sinned, and our just reward is God's jugement.
“All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” - Romans 3 : 23
We need to realise the danger we are in, and the need of God's fogiveness.
“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” Romans 6 : 23
Thirdly, we need to understand that our sin separates us from God.
Entry into His Kingdom is impossible in our sinful condition.
“...your iniquities have separated you between you and God” Isaiah 59 : 2
“Except a man be born again, He cannot see the Kingdom of God” - John 3 : 3
We need to realise that there is only ONE WAY to heaven, and that is through Christ alone.
“I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me” - John 14 : 6
We then need to turn from our sin in repentence and ask the Lord save us and cleanse us.
“Repent ye therefore and be converted, that your sin may be blotted out” - Acts 3 : 19
When a person accepts Christ as Saviour, they are assured of God's forgiveness, and a place in heaven for eternity.
They then need to continue in His footsteps, relying on His guidance through His Word and through the Holy Spirit who indwells all true believers in Christ.
“For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye sould follow His steps” - 1 Peter 2 : 21
